Toby Fox vs Latin American Communities

During the month of March, Toby Fox caused controversy when talking about translations, which brought back a frequent complaint, neither Undertale nor Deltarune has an official translation into Spanish or Portuguese. The controversy grew when Toby Fox explained on his BlueSky account that this is not due to discrimination, but rather creative control, as he prefers to personally supervise translations to maintain the original essence.

A message for my fans in Latin America. (plain text is in the image alt-text if you need it for translation.)

The post from Toby Fox on his official BlueSky account

Part of the Spanish and Brazilian community has reacted negatively, arguing that they are a big part of the gaming industry that is still being ignored. Toby Fox has been accused of xenophobia by some users, who point out that many modern indie games include Spanish and Portuguese translations from their release date, and that Toby Fox could afford a professional translation because of his success with Underlate.

Although the Latin American community has complained, the reality is that Toby Fox has the right not to translate his games if he does not consider it appropriate, as the creator of Undertale and Deltarune, he has full control over the adaptation of his games
